From idea to published.

From idea to published.

With the editing done, the next big thing to get sorted was Illustrations. I sat down with my illustrator, and we talked over potential ideas of how I wanted the book to look, before we came to the final decision, which meant I could leave my ideas in her trustworthy hands to crack on with her work.
I was tasked with setting up a KPD account (Kindle Direct Publishing). At first this seemed like an easy task that wouldn’t take long at all, I was so wrong!
Being Dyslexic and having to fill out forms didn’t work out so well, it was like being dragged into a black hole that I would never escape from. But, with help from a friend who had the patience of a Saint with me, as my frustration boiled over more than once, I slowly made it through the registration form and was now able to publish through Amazon.
Now I just had to make it through the steps of publishing, each with a set number of tasks you had to complete before you could move on to the next step. Again, my frustration would boil over and my confusion was never ending. I’ll be forever grateful for those that helped me.
STEP ONE:

STEP TWO

Upload manuscript

STEP THREE

Publish
Once you have gone through this process, you have got yourself a published book. Author previews will usually be sent out roughly around 10 days before publication date, so you can check the book is the correct size and there are no mistakes etc. On publication date your book goes live on amazon and you’re an Indie author.
If you are afraid about taking on KDP if I can do it anyone can! Just take it slowly, if you feel yourself getting frustrated save it and come back to it another day.
One thing I would recommend you get before publishing, is your own ISBN. This would then make sure that all books you publish are registered to your name or your business.
Here is a link for ISBN.
